WEST CASTOR

On this project, Kotby Consulting provided Resident Engineering services to complete Sanitary and Storm Sewer work in West Castor Place, between Alverson Avenue and Powell Street, Borough of Staten Island. The work includes installation of sanitary and storm sewers where none presently exist and offset of water mains wherever there is an interference with new construction.

Work completed includes:
- Installation of 1,750' of storm sewers, 12 manholes and 18 catch basins.
- Installation of 3,020' of 10" sanitary sewers and 18 manholes.
- Micro-Tunnelling under wetland area, by augering a 30" sleeve and insertion of 10"       carrier pipe, to accommodate outlet for sanitary sewer.
- Tunnel operation included: installing jacking and receiving pits, setting up jacking         frames/thrust wall, grouting the outside of the sleeve, slip the 10" sanitary sewer         and filling the annulus space between pipe and sleeve.
- Roadway restoration, after completion of underground work, with 4" of asphalt in         the trench with a final overlay of 2" curb to curb.
